It’s that time of the year again!  Everyone is back from summer vacations, and the days are being counted down.  Anticipation eagerly fills the air.  You guessed it, school is just around the corner.  As you prepare for your new school year with the latest trends in clothes and supplies, one preparation that shouldn’t be overlooked but easily is is that of our eye sight.  Making sure we are properly prepared to stay on our best game in the classroom, on the field, or on the court includes making sure we are properly equipped for our best vision. Here are 5 back to school eye care tips to help you get prepared for your best year in school yet:

Make sure your vision prescription is up to date.

Eye exams should be done annually.  Right before school begins is the perfect time for kids and teenagers to have their eye exams.  This guarantees they go into the year seeing their best and ready to learn.

Go in style with the latest trends in frames.

Frame trends change just like clothing trends change, and frames can be such a fun and unique fashion statement!  Spend a little time in our optical checking out the new styles and choosing a frame that screams you for your very first day back to school.

Have a back up pair of glasses.

There are so many ways frames can get lost or broken at school.  From a ball knocking them off  your child’s face in P.E. class, to them accidentally getting dumped in the garbage with the leftovers of lunch – we have heard all of the stories!  We always recommend a backup pair of frames, especially for children and teenagers.

Stock up on contact lenses.

If your child wears contact lenses, it’s a great idea to have them all stocked up for the year at the beginning of school.  Having a supply that is going to last the entire 10 months will give you and your child one less thing to worry about while they are working hard to tackle their studies.

Make sure you have a convenient case and cleaning cloth for your glasses.

“If they’re not on your face, put them in their case!”  That’s our motto about caring for your glasses.  When your child is at school, they should have a case for their glasses available to them.  It’s helpful if it’s something simple that can just be kept in their backpack if they happen to need it.  It’s easy for students to set their glasses down and have another student accidentally step or sit on them.  Storing a cleaning cloth in the case as well, is a great way to make sure the lenses get cleaned safely. Putting their frames in a case whenever they take them off  and cleaning them properly are important habits to create with your child at a early age.

We are so excited for you to start another adventurous year in school and want you and your child to be as prepared as possible.  Please let us know how we can help you prepare.
