There are more ways to protect your eyes than simply wearing sunglasses or safety glasses.  Lens options available on your everyday frames also offer protective care.  Technology is changing at lightning speeds! As too with lens technology.  New products are constantly being developed to help provide you with more protection and more clear vision.

UV Protection

Ultra Violet rays are damaging to your skin and eyes.  UV protection is commonly added to sunglasses but is also essential to everyday glasses. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to a condition called Photokeratitis.  Photokeratitis is basically a sunburn on your eyes and can be very painful.  Excessive sun exposure can also lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye problems.  When choosing your lens options, make sure to choose one with good UV protection.

Blue Light

Blue light is a short wavelength, high energy form of light that is emitted from the sun and digital screens (smartphones, computers, TVs, laptops, gaming systems, tablets). It has been linked to causing damage to the light-responsive cells in the back of your eyes, affecting the clarity and sharpness of your vision. When continually exposed throughout the day, this can cause digital eye strain, fatigue (both mental and physical) and even headaches.   Getting a blue light treatment on your lenses will reduce the amount of blue light reaching your eyes and help protect your eyes from the high tech demands of this day and age.

Glare-Free Treatment

Glare occurs when light bounces off your lenses and into your eyes.  This glare can be quite distracting, super annoying and even dangerous, especially while driving. Glare-free treatments (also called anti-reflective treatment) can be applied to both the front and back of your lenses,  allowing you to see with less glare and distraction.

Scratch Protection

Your glasses get a lot of daily wear and tear. Scratched lenses make your vision blurry and can cause unnecessary eye strain.  Even though nothing is scratch-proof, adding a scratch-resistant treatment can extend the life of your eyeglass lenses.  Proper cleaning and care of your glasses will also help to extend the life of your eyewear.
