Christmas traditions….a way of keeping memories alive through the years. Some make food a tradition, others make events a yearly must…pajamas are another favorite. Have you seen how our PJ’s turned out this year?
In the next couple of months, we will be celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. Say What? I know we look like babies… (:
*****See how old Dr. Smith really is!*****
Crazy how fast time has gone by. Up until this year, there really hasn’t been any family traditions that we have stuck with or decided to keep.
Hoping to change that this year!
While visiting family we came across the ornament in the photo above. It came from Shonee’s grandmothers Christmas tree….a real tradition. Every year grandma would pull out her vintage fake Christmas tree…the one that had individual branches and took about a week to assemble and another week to disassemble…she would adorn the branches with these amazing sweets ornaments…all fake.
There were pink candy popcorn balls and large candy canes, even real looking gingerbread houses. As a child, the temptation to touch and feel and almost take a bite, just to make sure they weren’t real, was almost too much to bear.
The memories that come to mind when seeing this ornament are so vivid and fun…we want that for our family.
As our little family jumps into this holiday season we are excited to finally get some traditions started so that we can make memories that will hopefully last for generations to come.
