This year for Thanksgiving we headed up to SLC to meet up with Dr. Smiths side of the family and share an Airbnb.

We packed our coats, hats, gloves, and boots since we weren’t sure what to expect from the weather. To our surprise the weather that week had record-breaking highs and most days we didn’t even need our jackets.  It was a really great week!

Our family was in charge of the table setting and decor for the Thanksgiving meal.  We wanted to keep it simple yet warm and inviting.  Here is what we did.

For easy cleanup, we lined the table with brown craft paper that we got from Michaels.  Once dinner was over… it was easy to roll the paper up and toss it.

We opted for paper plates this year…sort of weird. We weren’t sure if the house would have enough plates…In the end, it worked out and made clean up a breeze.

We did have linen napkins. There is something about having a real cloth napkin to making dinner feel a little bit more special.

The napkin rings are one of our favorite pieces.  We went to Michaels and found some velvet ribbon.  We used hot glue to make small rings.  The colors for the table were green from the eucalyptus, orange, white and the blue velvet rings was the perfect compliment.  We also added a small clipping of eucalyptus inside the napkin rings to bring more color to the plates.

For the actual centerpiece, we had a bouquet of eucalyptus and laid it in the middle of the table.  We then scattered oranges and little pillar candles throughout the table.  Because of all the little people in the house, we didn’t actually light the candle…they still looked great though!

As a little-added surprise…we put some Lindt chocolates on the underside of the napkins.  It was a fun touch.  Everyone needs more chocolate in their life…right!

Our brother in law is a fabulous cook and he prepared most of the meal.  It was a wonderful week with amazing food and great company.  We have been so blessed and feel so grateful to live in such a beautiful place….we love St. George.

We stopped by the office yesterday and have a post coming with the progress of the space…we are loving it!
