In a recent episode of Q&A Tuesday, we gave a few tips on how to stay cool in this hot St.George Utah weather. Aside from staying indoors for three months with your A/C on….we rounded up a pretty extensive list of things to do to have fun during the hot season.
We live in such a beautiful place here in Southern Utah, if you want to get out and enjoy the outdoors be sure to get out early. Early mornings are still cool, for now, but it’s important that you make a good plan and be safe when getting outdoors in the summer.
Bring lots of water. We love using insulated water containers when going out on adventures. You can find all different sizes and prices online. These are great because they keep your water cold for many many hours.
Water Water: Beat the heat by finding some water. Check out our list!
Veyo Pool: Stop by their spring fed all natural swimming pool. You can also use the picnic tables and climb on the rock wall. Fun half day activity.
Washington Community Center: We love the outdoor feeling of the pool here…minus the exposure to the damaging sun. With their extra large garage doors that open you can feel like you are outside but still be protected from UV rays. The rec center has many other activities and programs too.
Dixie Divers: Ever wanted to learn how to scuba dive? These guys have classes for the very beginner up to professional expert level divers. They also offer a fun birthday party bubble party. Sounds fun to us!
Sand Hollow Aquatic Center: A fun family friendly swimming experience. They also offer a lap pool and leisure pool. The leisure pool has a water slide, rock wall, and many fun water toys to play on. You can take a water aerobics class or a paddleboard yoga class.
St. George City Pool: The St. George Utah city pool is open seasonally. It offers a large pool and smaller toddler pool. The water slide is a must try.
Sand Hollow State Park: A beautiful state park with some larger rocks to jump off of into the water. Not sure if we would call it cliff jumping but still fun. There is also a place to rent water toys like kayaks, paddle boards etc.
Quail Creek: Pretty scenery but not much of a beach. They do have paddle boards, kayaks and water carpets for rent. You can use the boat ramp. The boast having some of the warmest water in Utah
Gunlock State Park: Gunlock is a pretty reservoir that has a boat ramp. Call to check when the ramp is open. Some springs you can see the water overflow on the red rock… so pretty!
Get Up Into the Mountains/outdoor fun:
Cedar Mountain/Cedar Breaks: Take an afternoon drive up the cedar mountain to cool off. Cedar Breaks is amazing. Here you will find great hiking spots, camping and views. So pretty, definitely a must see.
Pine Valley: Has overnight camping as wells as day use picnic tables. The campground has been undergoing some renovations to make it more updated. Pine Valley Reservoir is a great place to stop to help cool off!
Dixie Rock: Such fun hiking and a great overlook of the city. Must go in the morning to beat the heat!
Zion National Park: The park has been getting busier every year. If you live in St. George I would plan your trip around non-busy days. A must see for sure!
Snow Canyon State Park: Another beautiful place to visit. Many great hikes. Plan to bring water and go out early!
Indoor Fun:
Mystery Escape Room: Grab a group of friends and see if you can solve the mystery. This is a group mystery escape game where you try to solve clue before the timer runs out.
The Grip: Bring out the true ninja warrior in yourself….or your kids. This is such a fun facility to have here in St. George. Get kids away from their technology and have some fun playing around with all their equipment. They have classes and free time. Check out their site for all the details.
Fiesta Fun: Fun for everyone young and old. They offer arcade games…and seem to add new ones every month. They have laser tag, bowling, mini golf and so much more.
Children’s Museum: The children’s museum is great for younger kids. They are always trying to add new rooms to explore. We love that the younger kids can have fun, yet there is more detailed and intricate things for the older kids to play with.
Western Sky Aviation Skybird Aviation Museum : Go sit in a old aircraft. They are located out by the airport. This is probably a good one for the mornings, while it’s still cool out. Call ahead to make a reservation to attend.
House of Jump: Jump, jump! These guys offer 70 trampolines for all your jumping fun. They have events for toddlers and fun glow night events where they have black lights, fog and dodgeball. You can also book your next birthday party here!
Wildlife Museum: Ever wanted to stand next to an alligator or a giraffe. Here at the wildlife life museum, you can get up close to many wildlife animals that you just might never get a chance to otherwise.
Dinosaur Museum: Located close to our office, the dinosaur museum was constructed over a large piece of earth that was the crossing area for many dinosaurs…as evidence in the tracks they left behind.
Laser Mania: Hold onto your hats! These guys have black light laser tag and black light mini golf. Grab a few friends and go have fun. We were there the other night and it as so much fun….we left the girls at home. They also have arcade games and so much more!
Veyo Rolling Skate Rink: Grab your skates and have some fun. This is a great idea for parties and family get-togethers. They provide the skate and you get all the fun. Plus, its only 20 minutes from St. George.

Theater:
Brigham’s Play House: They put on some amazing shows! They put on a new show almost every month. Plus, you can stop by the red barn to grab some snacks for the show!
Tuacahn: This one might be a stretch…because even after the sun goes down, in the summer it’s still warm. But we think its totally worth it. Tuacahn is such a fabulous place that we get to have here in St. George. They have other events here throuhout the year as well like a farmers markert and a Christmas event each year.
Spa Day
Who said you need a really good reason to pamper yourself. We think a hot day is reason enough to give yourslef the gift of a spa day!

We love that St. George has a number of art galleries. We love showacasing local artists in our home and the office.
Favorite Frozen Treats:
We think that you cannot beat the heat without having a yummy frozen treat! Here are a few of our favorites!
Kilos: Is dairy-free ice cream that is sure to help you cool off… don’t forget to ask for your Italian ice to be drenched, it’s the best!
Zeppes: They combine their Italian ice with a creamy ice cream that we love!
Nielsen’s: One of the best “concretes” in town. They use super thick ice cream to make into delicious shakes. Don’t get caught here without cash…they don’t take any cards. #livedandlearned
Red Barn: The Red Barn has hard ice cream that is amazing. We love their lemon cookies and cream mmmm! They also have other really good produce and lots of other novelty things to check out!
